Beloved toy store Toys ‘R’ Us will be closing 180 stores across the United States. Closures will being early February and run through early April. The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer David Brandon wrote to consumers:
“The reinvention of our brands requires that we make tough decisions about our priorities and focus. The actions we are taking are necessary to give us the best chance to emerge from our bankruptcy proceedings as a more viable and competitive company.”
Toys ‘R’ Us filed for bankruptcy back in September 2017. The competition with Amazon, Walmart and Target made it difficult for the store meeting online customer needs.
A couple of stores in the Capital Region will be closing. The Toys ‘R’ Us in Glens Falls on Upper Glen Street and on Wade Road Extension in Latham.
